#WildernestHive: Beeswax Rendering in a Crockpot [Updated 2022]
This is an updated, new and improved version to the video I did in 2017. After researching a few different ways to render beeswax from my beehive, I determined that doing it in a crockpot would be easiest!
Watch as I do it myself and show you each step in the process.

A goal I set for 2021 was to start filming little monthly videos of all of our adventures outdoors, or in general. While I’m no videographer (and really need to upgrade my camera for it), I’m ready to set aside my perfectionism, for the time being, and capture what matters. Here’s a little sample clip to kick off 2021 with puddle jumping 🥰 ⁣

Tried to give the triplets some "free play" (no boundaries of their playyard) so they could crawl around and explore while I stuffed diapers. Rethinking that for next time 😂
#TripletsOfWildernest: A Year of Triplets

One year ago - July 24th, 2019 - we became first time parents to spontaneous triplets. Every day since, I have filmed 2 second moments, good or bad (and some unsafe sleeping thrown in, which I thankfully know better now), for their entire first year of life. Here is that whole year in just 10 minutes, which is exactly how long this journey has felt since they came into this world. This, my frie...

#TripletsofWildernest: How To Make Our Many Faces GIFs

For those who follow along on our Instagram, we've been doing these "many faces" GIFs for our triplets' monthly milestone photos since the start. They're GIFs compiled of 6 images and put together in Adobe Photoshop. Every time I share them, I get asked how to do it, so thought I would make a quick video explaining the process.

We're the Janaks and we had spontaneous triplets almost 9 months ago while simultaneously building our forever home and homestead. Like the rest of the world, we've been quarantined here in MA with a state wide stay at home order due to Coronavirus. Both my husband and I are essential employees and are still so fortunate to be working, but unlike my husband, I'm working full-time from home now....

Just be aware of nut allergies if you uses any nut oils or nut derived scents, when you are making these to give away to friends - always ask them first. If you are going make these for sale, it all starts getting rather complicated.

You can also use aluminium foil on the table, that way if you spoil any wax you can peel it off when it cooled down and recycle the wax

I'm very pale (Irish) but my lips are naturally dark. I am happy to see your dark lip balm because I don't want a heavy lipstick, but I use lip gloss all day. The dark one will make my skin look fresher through the day, I think. Thank you for those ingredients! And I do make my own lip gloss/chapstick for my whole family.

This process looks really cool and efficient. I've seen a number of beekeepers and hobbyists use the crockpot method. But I'm a bit confused about why there's a few larger bits of gunk/dark impurities in the solidified wax block when she used cheesecloth for filtering ? Why wouldn't the cheesecloth catch all of that ? Because the cheesecloth mesh is too small for those larger bits to come through. Maybe much smaller pieces but not for the larger pieces that we see that got set into the wax. Just looks kind of curious to me 🤷🏾‍♂️

I hope that you’re not selling these or giving them away because your cat was on the counter and you even spoke about cat hair so there’s no doubt cat hair’s in your product. Besides you didn’t sanitize anything. Yuck 🤮.

Great video...I just heard sniffing so I would definitely have on a mask and gloves...or just make enough for 1 so that the viewer's don't get the wrong impression.... your going to sell those. Also Don't over warm the oil.... your breaking down the ingredients and vitamin E! Just keep warm water... from the pan to the side or turn off the stove.. the water should still be warm!

Nice job. Very pretty. I'm guessing you love the color yellow? Just a suggestion, put your products already in pyrex cup to be melted directly in pan then carefully add water to level required might be less back n forth guess work. (BTW,As 8oz = 1 cup,Im thinking you didn't mean to say the lip pots were 7oz.) Best wishes!

suggestion: once melted, take the whole double boiler to your hot pad. leave your wax mixture sitting in that pot. You won't need to remelt it in the midst of portioning.

Thanks for sharing. Some tips, though I'm sure you already know. They make trays for filling the tube that make a lot easier. Also they have yellow bees wax, not sure how yellow you waned it but ya they already have some yellow on them which is how they come out naturally. They process them to be able to make it white.
